I was Navy but went through Army Airborne at Ft. Benning before Navy flight school in Pensacola. I started flying a few years before it became popular/cool (with the release of the movie Top Gun in 1986). I can NOT put in print most of my stories...but I was a very junior LT (O-3) at 26 years old, teamed with another 26 year old LT (which was RARE as they normally put junior with experienced to balance aggressive with safety).
Think of being in high school just having your license to drive for less than a year and your Dad gave you and your best friend the keys to his collectable supercar with a full tank of gas (every day) for two hours.
